I am sure this site will receive a ton of traffic after Oprah's recent Freegan episode, but I must say that I am completely fascinated and impressed by what I learned today both on the show and online! I would've jumped on this lifestyle a long time ago if I had known.

With that being said, I still have a lot of questions. Do you all know of any freegans in the Charleston, SC area? I would love to learn more!

One last question, is this totally legal? Can grocery stores sto you from going through their trash? If not, we could feed so many hungry people in our community this way!

Like you I recently learned of this lifestyle from the Oprah show... and am also intrigued by this movement.

I know there are a few in Miami FL but do not know how to contact them... also am wondering if there are any Freegans in Pompano and Ft. Lauderdale.

I'm brand new to the Charleston area, and don't know of any freegans, but would love to become one. Want a diving buddy? I'm here for the month of April.
